Remedies For Sleep Deprivation And Its Bad Effects

By Leslie Moore

You may be burning the midnight oil because of your projects and studies. Busy office men are sometimes bringing home work or have an extra part-time job at night to get the money that they want. Having a baby can also keep you awake or disrupt you from sleeping. Though these daily routines may not be all, they are the top reasons why people suffer from sleep deprivation. Sleep is very important for a person's health. You may be thinking that it is all worth the effort however, loss of sleep will eventually take its toll on you. So before it escalates to a bigger problem, you don't have to be a genius to know that seeking for a remedy is the best thing to do.

The Natural Way

Medication is not always the best answer for everything. Though there are cases when you will need it, finding a natural solution could be a wise move in some of the many scenarios that could take place. The best thing that can counter the bad effects of sleep deprivation is still sleeping. This means that you have to find ways, or squeeze the time to give way to your sleep. Change your schedule, do things fast and start saving precious time. Go home early, finish what you need to finish and sleep once done. Every second should matter to you and a one hour lunch break at work must be respected.

Other aids are exercise, diet and stress reduction especially for those who have insomnia. For people who can't just sleep because of a disorder, performing calming exercises such as yoga before bed time will help you relax. Diet is also important for both insomniacs and night buddies. Since sleep deprivation causes slow metabolism, those who suffers from it have a higher chance of gaining weight which can be harmful to health. Avoid caffeine products, alcohol and make a change on your eating habits. Make sure that you only take in healthy snack instead of salty, fatty and junk foods.

Medications

If you are insomniac and the above has no effect and you are still wide awake, you may need to take in medicines which are prescribed by a doctor. Visit your physician and get the medicines that you need to take in to help you sleep easily, peacefully and in longer hours at night. Anti-depressants and sleeping pills are most likely to be given to people who have difficulties in sleeping. Anti-histamines can also be prescribed to a patient.

For people who work for almost 24 hours, they are more likely to have a weaker immune system. To strengthen their body resistance, they must take in multivitamins and other supplements. They also have to take in other medications prescribed for sickness that they have acquired while having a job at night. To totally solve their problems, sleep is still the best remedy so try finishing all the things you need to do quickly in order for you to doze off for longer hours.
