Running is a simple and fun exercise that you can do no matter where you live, whether on a sidewalk, road or a track. Here are some effective and proven jogging principles to take with you when you hit the road, or trail.

One of the best things you can do to stay motivated is to run with a friend or even a group. Running with a partner can be a great source of motivation but if you prefer to run alone, that's okay too. When you run with someone, you are less likely to quit too soon. Having someone to talk to can be fun, as well, but don't let it become a distraction. Saving the conversation for when you're finished and focusing on jogging may be the best way to go. Running with a partner is one way of keeping this activity interesting.

Power walking is highly suggested if you're not yet a jogger and want to start doing it. You may want to talk to your doctor first, but if you're cleared to exercise, then walking is a terrific method to get your body used to the idea of exercise and using your legs a lot. You can start off as slowly as you want, and gradually increase your pace. When the time is right, then just simply begin jogging slowly, and go according to your pace and feeling. You don't want to overdo it and cause an injury because that will only set you back as you heal. Also, a lot of people like to power walk because it's good exercise, and it's evern prefered by those who cannot run without pain due to an injury, etc. Even those who are able to run might want to work their way up to a faster pace by walking first.

Jogging benefits both your cardiovascular health and your bones health. Jogging releases endorphins which helps enhance your mood, known as the "runners high". So, if you are feeling depressed and don't want to go running, that is the best to go because it'll help you feel better.

You should try to do your jogging at the start of your day but you can go at any time of the day. Going first thing gets your exercise done and you won't have to worry about fitting it in later. Jogging first thing starts your day on a productive note, as well as energetic. Another bonus to jogging first thing is it gets your metabolism going for the day. The quality of the air first thing in the morning tends to be better. You will have more energy to face your day if you start it with a morning jog.

Those that go jogging several times a week can get a lot out of it. Remember to use caution and common sense, which means stretching, wearing the right shoes and clothes and not overdoing it. If you pay attention to the above jogging principles, you will be able to keep up your jogging regimen all year round, and you'll find yourself getting healthier all the time.
