You need to be very careful to three months out from the competition itself. Have you noticed that most competitors at a bodybuilding competitions have tanned bodies? This is a delicate issue because overdoing it can be harmful. You could end up with orange skin from artificial tanners, or damaged, dried out skin from sun or tanning booth exposure. There's no doubt that if you have a nice, healthy tan, it will show you off at your best advantage. Do you already use a tanning product or system that is successful for you? If so, you should definitely incorporate it into your preparation. Just be careful when you are trying out new products, so you don't do more harm than good. You might find that spending a reasonable amount of time in the actual sunshine, or in a tanning booth, works well for you. Just don't get carried away.

People tend to think of bodybuilders as being very shiny, covered with oil, posing onstage in front of many people. The oil allows bodybuilders to emphasize the definition of their muscles in a very clear fashion. Not every competition will allow competitors to use oil, however. When you enter a competition, remember that using oil may or may not be allowed. However, if it is allowed, always use it every time. Make sure that you use it appropriately. Do not overindulge! The greased up look is not something that is always allowed. Using it in moderation is your best bet if you don't know what to do. You can buy posing oils at most stores and websites that have bodybuilding supplies.
