Make Fun Party Favors With Wedding Popcorn

By Lana Bray

Planning a unique wedding, with fun reception party ideas is sometimes difficult, especially if planning on a budget. Some people opt for a full dinner for their guests, and others serve cake, party favors and drinks. One extremely fun party idea that can be customized to colors and themes is wedding popcorn.

Even once couples have decided on the type of favors they will have to thank their guests, there are still a multitude of decisions to make. The bar will need to be styled to theme and colors. There are many ways to present the treats and doing so in a way that is not only classy, but customized to the bride and groom is a must.

Popcorn can be purchased through companies specializing in wedding favors, or brides can order their own and put their own display together. Even at that, gourmet popcorn can be expensive. Making gourmet popcorn, and putting together your own popcorn bar, however, is not only cost effective, but it allows brides to select their favorite recipes, and personalize boxes, and displays.

Planning is essential when couples decide to make it themselves. Getting others in on the process will save time and effort, and will allow for new ideas and input. Think about having servers. This will add a touch of class.

Flavors and styles of treats should be determined by the type of dress, and overall theme of the party. There are a variety of styles of popcorn bars, and stylizing them to the party, the dress, colors and theme is the best choice. A few treat choices might include Carmel balls, chocolate, nutty and candy pretzel mixes. Others are sour cream, cheesy, spicy.

If instead it has a rock star theme, Hawaiian or Asian theme, thinking about a mix of other gourmet flavors, such as spicy, fruity, or tailored after other cultures might be a good idea. Also considering the display or packaging is a must, as well as how it will presented to your guests is a must. The first thing to consider is if servers will bring the treats in elegant displays to each table, or if a buffet style is more appropriate.

Packaging can be ordered online or purchased at some bridal or party shops. A few ideas might include purchasing elegantly scalloped bags, with thank you on the boxes, containing a mix in elegant lace bags with ribbons tied at the top. These would be placed at each guest's seat.

Champagne classes at a buffet bar is another option. Beautiful silver or gold cups could be placed inside with a mix of chocolate and popcorn. The glass can be later used to drink champagne. Other elegant ideas are apothecary jars.

Personalizing the display is also possible, with festive bags that display words such as, "welcome to our special day." Other slogans are, "thank you for being part of our wedding day." This would be accompanied by a picture of the couple, and their names on the wedding popcorn bag. No matter how brides choose to display, creating a bar such as this allows for personal style and character.
